Nishan Degnarain is an economist, specializing in the use of new technologies to drive sustainable economic growth, particularly for low- and middle- income countries.
He is Chair of London School of Economics‘ Ocean Finance Initiative and is a regular contributor to Forbes Magazine on topics of the ocean economy, sustainability and new technologies. He was formerly Chair of the World Economic Forum’s Global Agenda Council on the Ocean where he set up a Special Initiative at the Forum focused specifically on the ocean, has spoken regularly at Davos, and is a published author on the subject with his book, ‘Soul of the Sea in the Age of the Algorithm.’ He has worked at the highest levels of Governments and Business around the world.
