Javier is a Fellow of Oxford Leadership.
Javier is a leading global executive and active social player in both Mexico and the Asia-Pacific region. He is an active member of several community organisations and is the Founder and President of Selider, a national organisation that promotes youth leadership in Mexico and supports the development and civic participation of young people. Based in Mexico, Javier works in Spanish.
As Senior Vice President of External Affairs of the CEMEX Group, Professor Prieto established himself as a key leader in the areas of trade and commerce for more than 20 years. Javier was the company’s key representative to the Asia-Pacific Economic Corporation’s Business Advisory Council (ABAC). He took an active role in defining policy in the APEC Food System, which will support the continued development of APEC markets. Javier was appointed by President Calderon as a Labour Undersecretary in 2006. Prior to that, he was Chief of Staff for the Interior Secretary Mr. Carlos Abascal Carranza, responsible for the Cabinet committee appointed by President Fox. Alongside his active agenda, he speaks widely on motivation, competitiveness, social responsibility and related subjects to businesses, government leaders and social groups.
Javier has received an honorary doctorate from the Mexican Association of International Law. In 1998, he was named Citizen of the Year by The Rotary Foundation (North district in México). Javier and his wife reside in Monterrey, México.
