Telefónica Corporate University, the centre for management learning and development at Telefónica, initiated the Strategic Culture Change programme for Telefónica’s top 1200 senior managers. The objectives of the programme were:

  • to align the organisation’s culture with their strategic imperatives
  • to build leadership capability in a complex, dynamic and highly pressurised corporate environment.

Telefónica assessed the senior leadership development offerings of the world’s leading business schools including INSEAD, Columbia University, Oxford Saïd Business School and IMD, as well as Oxford Leadership Academy (OLA). OLA was one of three shortlisted and invited to conduct a pilot programme for final evaluation. The other finalists included Axialent and the Michigan Ross School of Business. OLA was subsequently selected to be Telefónica’s long term partner for their Corporate University and their Strategic Culture Change efforts.

Strategic Culture Change is a tailor-made programme with its foundations in OLA’s highly successful Self-Managing Leadership programme (SML)™. SML™ has over 100,000 alumni and is one of the world’s most successful leadership development programmes. It has been used for aligning culture with strategy in some of the world’s biggest corporations, NGOs and governments in over 90 countries.

Through 2008 and into 2009 Oxford Leadership Academy has been delivering Strategic Culture Change and has been rewarded with the highest rating of any programme conducted by the Telefónica Corporate University.
