Robert Ziegler, Editor of the Oxford Leadership Journal

Robert Ziegler is Editor of the Oxford Leadership Journal, which made its début in December 2009. A Fellow of the Oxford Leadership Academy, Robert is a consultant, trainer and facilitator specializing in large-scale engagement in support of transformational, strategic change. Robert was co-founder and co-director of the Shambhala Institute for Authentic Leadership (now Authentic Leadership in Action) and has served on several nonprofit boards in his native Nova Scotia, Canada and abroad.
Robert also writes about – and co-leads seminars on – working with conflict, specializing in his study of The Art of War by Sun Tzu. One series of such seminars, called The Art of Protection, articulates the worldview, principles and practices for nonviolent engagement of disturbance and conflict. Each seminar brings together a number of intellectual and practical traditions including Aikido, The Art of War, psychoanalysis, and living-systems theory. Robert also co-designs and co-facilitates processes for communities and organizations in conflict, notably Jewish Israelis and Palestinians in the Mideast, Jewish and Muslim students in Nova Scotia and national associations with competing regional priorities.
Robert’s passion for clarity in communication underlies his editorial, training, consulting and conflict-resolution work – whether his clients seek a fresh and concise strategic planning document, a broad and genuine consultation of stakeholders, or a clear resolution to a long-standing conflict, Robert’s co-creation of clear outcomes is transformative and valued. Holding an M. Ed. from Acadia University, with a focuses in coaching and organizational development, Robert has worked in high technology, adult education, leadership development, community development, sustainability, and cross-cultural collaboration.
“Bob is a bold and skilful facilitator who manifests uncommon understanding of situations and conflicts, and helps bring groups to insightful outcomes.”
