Global Innovation – From ‘Lean’ to ‘Learn’
In collaboration with Oxford Research and the Copenhagen
Business School the Oxford Leadership Academy is launching the
'Global Innovation - From 'Lean' to 'Learn'' research program in
2012. Running for three years from 2012 to 2014 this program seeks
to help create a new zeitgeist for the post-financial crisis
business environment. The program is to be led by Dr. Kim Moller,
Nordic Chair of the Oxford Leadership Academy and Dr. Susana Borras
of the Copenhagen Business School. 75% of the research for this
program is to be provided by The Manufacturing Industry Foundation
with a further 25% coming from private corporations participating
in the program.
Since the crash of 2009 companies have struggled to align their
global organizations, leverage synergy between business units and
increase the speed and success of innovation. Whilst traditional
'lean in' tools remain useful in this new environment organizations
need to improve their learning. Of vital importance is tapping into
global innovation networks however this can in itself be difficult.
Key challenges include: how firms manage innovation beyond the
company, how do firms ensure they work with the right partners in
innovation and how can firm's protect their investment in open
innovation?
'Global Innovation - From 'Lean' to 'Learn'' aims to provide new
research based and practical insights for companies to increase
their speed and implementation of innovation. The core of the
research program is two-fold: firstly, by undertaking a large scale
survey across manufacturing companies and secondly by conduction
twelve in-depth corporate case studies. Over the course of 8-10
seminars these case studies will be discussed by a both academic
experts and business leaders. These seminars will offer
participants the opportunity to gain new insights as their own
innovative strategies unfold and allow them to take advantage of
professional guidance in reflecting on their own approach
In total twelve companies will be invited to participate in the
program at a cost of 35,000 EUR each plus travel expenses. In
return participating firms will be offered world class feedback on
their progress, early access to survey results on how to engage in
global innovation, and insights into new models for establishing
and engaging in global innovation networks.
