Tom Hurley is President of Oxford
Leadership Academy™ USA. A globally recognized expert on leadership
in today's increasingly complex, networked organizations, he serves
as a senior consultant and executive coach to leaders focused on
creating strategic alignment and competitive advantage through
greater collaboration, engagement, and accountability at all levels
of system.
An expert at participatory process design and facilitation, Tom
specializes in highly collaborative approaches to strategy
formation, leadership development, high- performing teams, and
stakeholder engagement. He brings a rare blend of analytical,
integrative, and intuitive capacities to this work and is uniquely
gifted at synthesizing diverse perspectives on complex issues and
articulating the essence of emerging opportunities.
A partial list of his clients includes Nokia Corporation,
Telefonica, eBay, Walt Disney Company, Almirall, Management
Sciences for Health, the Ontario Ministry of Health, the Federal
Geographic Data Council, and the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation.
He has delivered leadership development programs in client
organizations and in professional settings such as the Society for
Organizational Learning Global Forum, Pegasus Communications'
annual Systems Thinking conferences, the ALIA Institute, and
others.
Tom brings three decades of experience with pioneers in creating
new paradigms for business and personal development to his work
today. He was previously CEO of the Chaordic Alliance, a consulting
firm in which he partnered with VISA founder Dee Hock to help
organizations in business, government, and the social sector
transform themselves. Prior to that he helped lead the Institute of
Noetic Sciences, a research and education organization founded by
Apollo 14 astronaut Edgar Mitchell, where he guided the Institute's
growth into a leading global organization on expanded human
capacities and positive human futures. Today he serves on the Board
of Directors for both the World Café Community Foundation and
Margaret Wheatley's Berkana Institute.
Tom is also a member of Oxford Leadership Academy's International
Faculty Board. His article on "Conversational Leadership: Thinking
Together for a Change," co- authored with Juanita Brown, was
featured in the Oxford Leadership Journal. He earned his M.S. in
Futures Research from the University of Houston at Clear Lake City
and holds a black belt in aikido.
