"Leadership: Seize the Moment" breakfast meeting, December 2009, and Self-Managing Leadership Programme, February 2010, with Brian Bacon

9 February 2010 – 11 February 2010

Enrol in this programme

Oxford Leadership Academy and Girl Scouts USA Arizona - Cactus-Pine Council Inc. are renewing their partnership by running "Leadership: Seize the Moment", a breakfast meeting in December 2009, and the next Self Managing Leadership® Open Programme in February 2010.

EVENT 1:

"Leadership: Seize the Moment": Breakfast Meeting with Brian Bacon, CEO and Chairman of the Oxford Leadership Academy, December 10, 8:00 am - 10:00 am

Venue: Arizona Biltmore resort and Spa

Brian Bacon's chosen theme for December 10, “Leadership: Seize the Moment”, is particularly pertinent in these turbulent times, and raises a number of crucial questions; in studying the links between leadership and character, it is clear that the ability to “seize the moment” is a common trait of successful people. When confronted by a serious challenge, why do some leaders act decisively and others procrastinate? Why are some paralyzed by fear or uncertainty when others, facing the exact same situation, act decisively and turn a crisis into opportunity?

As we all know, in the current climate of crisis and its aftermath, many organizations are engaging in a damage limitation exercise. While some have taken the tough decisions necessary to consolidate and even emerge strengthened from the turbulence, others are struggling to focus with clarity on the few essential things that will make the biggest difference.

At this breakfast meeting, Brian will be sharing first-hand experience of working closely with some of the world’s top corporate and government leaders during times of crisis. He will relate personal stories about Rupert Murdoch, Charlie Bell the CEO of McDonalds, Robert Haas the CEO of Levi’s, Tex Gunning the MD of Akzo Nobel, President Vicente Fox of Mexico and many others. In different ways they all have the capacity to “seize the moment” and make the tough choices that help their organizations confront and overcome even the most serious of challenges.

Cost: $50 (this fee will be used towards your registration on the February Self Managing Leadership Programme in February 2010, should you plan to attend - see below)

EVENT 2:

Self Managing Leadership® Programme with Brian Bacon, CEO and Chairman of the Oxford Leadership Academy, February 9 - 11

Venue: The Heard Museum, 2301 North Central Avenue, Phoenix, Arizona

Brian Bacon's Self Managing Leadership® Programme was by far the most powerful and moving course I have ever attended in my entire professional career. Brian's vision and foresight has helped me deal with many difficult situations both personally and professionally

LEADING YOURSELF AND OTHERS THROUGH TURBULENT TIMES

The global financial crisis has been with us for over a year now, and while some organizations have managed to negotiate huge challenges successfully, many others worldwide are still struggling to come to terms with the effects of the economic meltdown, and are still needing to take tough decisions. A key factor which will determine the future direction that organizations take is the quality and vision of their leadership. Leaders need to develop strategies, firmly rooted in their own clarity of personal purpose and vision, which will enable them to navigate through these turbulent times.

TURBULENT TIMES CALL FOR EXTRAORDINARY LEADERSHIP!

Effective leaders know that times of crisis can be opportunities to steer themselves, their organizations and their teams in clear and constructive new directions. A lack of personal and strategic focus makes this process more challenging. The SML™ programme provides leaders with the tools they need to manage themselves first, as a springboard to aligning and guiding their people.

EXTRAORDINARY LEADERSHIP BEGINS WITH MANAGING YOURSELF

Our two and a half-day workshop provides a framework for leaders to refocus their own lives and work. Priorities are clarified, obstacles to success identified, and action plans developed. Participants are encouraged to acknowledge that they will be better placed to align and engage their teams if they first have a clear sense of their own guiding values and purpose.

Leadership is a potent combination of strategy and character, but… if you have to be without one, be without the strategy

General H. Norman Schwarzkopf

Oxford Leadership Academy, one of the world’s top leadership consultancies and thought leaders, are delighted to invite you and your senior colleagues to an open session of our flagship leadership development workshop, the SML™ (Self-Managing Leadership®) Programme. This workshop will be led by Oxford Leadership Academy’s Chairman founder, Brian Bacon, global pioneer and thinker on the role of business in society.

This highly relevant and successful programme provides a framework for the empowerment and focusing of leaders, and has been experienced by over 100,000 leaders from the corporate, NGO and Government sectors around the world. The guiding principles that underpin the programme are more relevant than ever in these uncertain times.

Why come to this Programme?

SML is a framework for self-leadership, empowerment and focusing on the next steps in your career and life. SML training results in a more authentic and consistent style of leadership based on your true strengths, values and purpose.
